Singapore Child Trafficking Network: 13th Suspect Arrested, Police Continue to Dismantle Syndicate

West Java Police have arrested another suspect in a baby trafficking ring involving the sale of infants to Singapore, raising the total number of suspects to 13. The latest arrest was made late last night, and authorities believe the network is still expanding. Police emphasized their intention to pursue other suspects believed to be operating in Singapore. The goal is to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s international operations.

The recently arrested suspect was identified as someone who acted as a penampung, or receiver, in the trafficking chain. Authorities are continuing to investigate the broader network, hoping to dismantle not just local operatives but also those abroad. They are working under the assumption that more collaborators are facilitating the transfer and sale of babies across borders. The police have not ruled out future arrests in connection with the case.

To locate the 24 babies believed to have already been sent to Singapore, the West Java Police will coordinate with Interpol. Communications have already begun between Indonesia’s Deputy Police Chief, the National Police Headquarters, and international counterparts. Officials hope that international cooperation will lead to a breakthrough in finding the missing infants. Further announcements are expected as efforts intensify.

Previously, of the 12 suspects initially arrested, only one was male while the rest were women. Police had also rescued six babies from the traffickers, five of whom came from Pontianak and one from Karawang. The case has sparked public concern over the vulnerability of infants and the loopholes exploited by human trafficking rings. Authorities are under growing pressure to ensure justice and prevent future crimes of this nature.
