The Head of Bagdamkeman (Kabagdamkeman) Polri led an intensive training program for 35 female police officers (Polwan) selected for the Formed Police Unit (FPU) 7 Minusca from 24-28 February 2025. The training took place at the Indonesian National Police International Mission Center in Serpong, South Tangerang. It was supported by three trainers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), including Corporal Shawna Averil LeBlanc, Rachel Montgomery, and Corporal Tammy Diana Jones. The program aimed to enhance the technical skills and basic competencies of the Polwan as prospective peacekeepers in Bangui, Central African Republic.
The five-day course was designed to prepare the officers for the challenges they would face in a mission environment. Daily activities were intensive, focusing on technical, physical, and mental training. The program emphasized readiness for complex situations in the field. It also reflected the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to ensuring that FPU 7 Minusca members possess adequate skills and resilience.
The presence of RCMP trainers highlighted international cooperation in preparing peacekeeping personnel. Corporal Shawna Averil LeBlanc noted that the Indonesian Polwan displayed exceptional dedication and high motivation throughout the training. The instructors aimed not only to improve technical proficiency but also to foster mental toughness and character development. The training served as a bridge between preparation at home and operational readiness abroad.
With the completion of this phase, the Polwan will continue preparations before deployment to the Central African Republic under the United Nations (UN) banner. The Kabagdamkeman expressed appreciation for the efforts of both participants and trainers. He emphasized that the training was as much about professionalism and integrity as it was about skills. The officers are expected to contribute meaningfully to peacekeeping operations while upholding the high standards of their organization.
