Manggarai Police Mark Independence Month with Free Flag Giveaway to Drivers

To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, the Manggarai Police distributed free red-and-white flags to motorists passing by the Manggarai Police Headquarters on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The event was part of a national movement to encourage public participation in the Independence Month celebration. It aimed to boost patriotic spirit and reinforce national unity. Twenty flags were handed out to both motorcycle and car drivers.

Manggarai Deputy Police Chief Kompol Mei Charles Sitepu, Operations Head Akp Ricky Dally, and Traffic Unit Head Akp Sandy Humisar Sibarani also took part in the activity. They were joined by other officers and members of the Manggarai Police Department. In a symbolic act, the Police Chief handed a flag directly to a passing driver and even tied one to a vehicle. The event was carried out in a festive and spirited atmosphere.

This initiative is part of a broader national campaign to rekindle national pride and solidarity under the banner of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. By placing flags on homes and vehicles, citizens are encouraged to actively celebrate independence and honor the struggles of national heroes. The gesture also serves as a visual reminder of the shared values and history of the nation. The police hope this act fosters unity across all levels of society.

Through this symbolic activity, the Manggarai Police invite the public to display the red-and-white flag throughout August. The act is meant not just as tradition, but as a living tribute to the country’s hard-won freedom. Citizens are urged to express love for their homeland in small but meaningful ways. The police see this as an effort to strengthen collective identity and patriotic values across generations.
