The Police Sector of Lirik in Indragiri Hulu Regency launched a preventive patrol along the Eastern Sumatra Cross Road on Monday morning, September 22, 2025. This initiative, carried out under the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police Resort, aims to minimize road accidents and foster a secure and orderly public environment. Officers checked accident-prone areas, including sharp bends, intersections, and high-traffic zones. The operation reflects law enforcement’s commitment to safety in a region often traversed by heavy vehicles and inter-district commuters.
Chief of Indragiri Hulu Police Resort, Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner (AKBP) Fahrian S. Siregar, through Public Relations Officer Police Adjunct Inspector (Aiptu) Misran, emphasized that the patrol embodies a preventive approach. He noted that the main traffic artery requires consistent monitoring due to its vulnerability to accidents. According to him, public safety and smooth traffic flow remain the primary goals. The police presence, he added, is meant to ensure both security and comfort for road users.
During the patrol, officers not only monitored traffic conditions but also reminded motorists about key safety practices. Drivers were urged to comply with traffic signs, control their speed, and carry proper documentation at all times. Such educational efforts are part of the wider strategy to address potential risks, including public order disturbances. Police highlighted that the patrol serves as both enforcement and engagement, demonstrating the state’s presence in safeguarding daily life.
The Indragiri Hulu Police underscored that regular patrols of this kind will continue. The long-term goal is to strengthen road safety, known locally as Kamseltibcar Lantas (Security, Safety, Order, and Smooth Traffic). Authorities stressed that building trust with residents through a humanist and preventive approach remains central to their mission. The patrol concluded with reports of safe and orderly conditions, reinforcing the importance of consistent vigilance in maintaining stability across the regency.
