Police Honor Fallen Heroes with Flower Tribute at Kalibata for 70th Traffic Day
The Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) marked the 70th Bhayangkara Traffic Day with a solemn wreath-laying and flower scattering ceremony at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta. The event was led by Chief of Korlantas, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, as a tribute to national heroes who sacrificed for the nation. More than just a ceremonial tradition, the occasion emphasized the importance of discipline, responsibility, and public service among traffic police officers. The atmosphere was filled with respect and reflection as senior officials and personnel participated in the event.
Director of Vehicle Registration and Identification, Brigadier General Wibowo, underlined that the spirit of fallen heroes should guide every officer’s conduct. He stressed that the values of sincerity, discipline, and accountability must be embodied in daily duties, especially in serving the public. Such reminders, he said, are crucial in ensuring that the legacy of past officers continues to inspire the present generation. The ceremony reinforced the idea that the fight for safety and order remains as relevant today as it was decades ago.
The event began with a formal tribute and moment of silence, followed by the scattering of flowers over the graves of heroes. Participants also honored several retired police generals, including Inspector General (Ret.) U.E. Madellu, Inspector General (Ret.) Yudi Sushariyanto, Brigadier General (Ret.) Untung Margono, and Inspector General (Ret.) H. Suprapto. Each name reflected the long-standing tradition of service that the Traffic Corps seeks to uphold. Such gestures underscored the bond between past and present generations of law enforcement.
Inspector General Agus highlighted the dual significance of the commemoration, which coincided with the first National Road Traffic and Transportation Safety Day. He stressed that this alignment serves as a reminder for all traffic personnel to prioritize the safety of the public above all. The commitment, he declared, is to deliver the best services while ensuring safe, orderly, and efficient traffic across Indonesia. For Korlantas, the path forward is one of constant dedication to safety, discipline, and public trust.
