Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, confirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government has repaired public facilities and infrastructure damaged during recent demonstrations. Most of the efforts focused on public transportation, including Transjakarta bus stops and MRT stations. These facilities are crucial lifelines for residents who depend on mass transit every day. By restoring them swiftly, the government aimed to minimize disruption to public mobility.
One of the most significantly damaged facilities was the Senen Bus Stop, a major hub in Central Jakarta. According to Pramono, repairs have been completed and the bus stop will be officially reopened on Monday. He emphasized that all Transjakarta corridors are now back in operation, a development that has been met with relief by residents. The re-launch symbolizes the government’s capacity for rapid recovery in the face of public unrest.
In his remarks, Pramono highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring safe and reliable transportation. He pointed out that pedestrian bridges and other infrastructure impacted by the unrest have also been restored. The reopening of the Senen Bus Stop was presented as both a practical necessity and a symbolic gesture of resilience. For many Jakartans, these repairs signal a return to normalcy.
At the same time, Pramono voiced concern about vandalism of public facilities during demonstrations. He announced plans to create a dedicated site to serve as a reminder and deterrent against such incidents. The goal, he said, is to foster public awareness and prevent history from repeating itself. His appeal underscored the balance between protecting democratic expression and safeguarding public assets.
