South Jakarta Dekranasda Curates Products from 50 Artisans

Fifty artisans showcased their creations in a product curation session organized by the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) of South Jakarta at the Dirgantara Hall, Mayor’s Office. Chairperson of Dekranasda South Jakarta, Diah Anwar, explained that the activity aimed to recruit new members while guiding existing artisans to elevate their craft. The event highlights the government’s effort to encourage local creative industries to grow and compete at higher levels. Such initiatives are seen as a foundation for building sustainable community-based economies.

Diah emphasized that the artisans should carefully follow the directions of the curating team. By doing so, she believes the quality of the products could significantly improve, enabling them to gain wider market recognition. She also invited all members to contribute to the Dekranasda Gallery located at the ground floor of the Mayor’s Office. The gallery, now expanded, is envisioned as a key platform for promoting local crafts.

In her remarks, Diah expressed gratitude for the artisans’ participation and underscored the broader mission of Dekranasda. According to her, the council not only helps artisans refine their work but also provides a gateway for larger market opportunities. This initiative, she said, is expected to generate positive impacts on sales and strengthen household economies. She encouraged participants to treat the program as motivation for enhancing both the quality and quantity of their products.

One participant, Dwi Yuni from Pasar Minggu District, presented Batik-Applied Pottery valued at Rp 300,000. She expressed hope that her creation would pass the selection process and earn recognition as an official Dekranasda product. For many artisans like her, the program represents more than just validation—it is a chance to expand market reach and secure a stronger economic future. Such stories reflect the real impact of local government support for creative industries.
