Ex-NII MYT Followers Declare Allegiance to NKRI

In a solemn moment coinciding with Pancasila Sanctity Day, 58 former members of the Negara Islam Indonesia (NII) faction led by Faction Leader, Muhamad Yusuf Tohiri, declared their loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). The event took place at the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) office in Tangerang City on October 1, 2025, and marked a formal break from misguided teachings. Participants affirmed their commitment to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution as the nation’s guiding foundation. The gathering signaled a renewed unity between the state and individuals once swayed by radical influence.

The ceremony opened with a declaration of allegiance led by Participant Representative, Ustaz Mukhlis, and was followed by participants signing loyalty pledges. A powerful symbol came when attendees kissed the red-and-white flag as a gesture of devotion to Indonesia. This was a public rejection of radical ideology and a reaffirmation of civic identity. It also demonstrated a willingness to rejoin the broader community as citizens of the republic.

Security officials and local leaders were present to reinforce the significance of the moment. Kasatgawil DKI Jakarta, Senior Commissioner Dhani Arifianto, praised the decision as a turning point toward patriotism, urging participants to see this as the start of a new chapter. The Mayor of Tangerang expressed gratitude while pledging government support for reintegration and economic empowerment. Such commitments underscored that deradicalization is not only about ideology but also about practical opportunities for stability.

A national sermon was delivered by Former NII Activist, Asep Muhargono, who now leads the Prasana Bumi Pertiwi Foundation, an organization educating the public about the dangers of extremism. Asep reminded participants that Pancasila and Islam are harmonious, stressing that love of one’s homeland is part of faith. The event concluded with a prayer led by Vice Chairman of Tangerang MUI, KH Saparudin, asking for strength and unity. With support from community leaders, religious figures, and local stakeholders, the pledge was seen as both a personal rebirth and a national victory.
