Flamboyan Park Gets a Makeover Ahead of 24-Hour Opening

Flamboyan Park on Jalan Raya Cilangkap, RW 05, Kelurahan Cilangkap, Kecamatan Cipayung, East Jakarta, is undergoing a major renovation in preparation for 24-hour public access. About ten personnel from the Green Troops of the East Jakarta Parks and Urban Forest Agency (Tamhut) are involved, performing tasks ranging from painting fences and landscaping to repairing lights, trimming trees, and installing CCTV cameras. The 7.9-hectare park is being carefully reorganized to enhance accessibility, safety, and recreational facilities, including multipurpose courts, outdoor fitness areas, a children’s playground, and security posts.

East Jakarta Tamhut Head, Dwi Ponangsera, noted that this effort follows similar upgrades at Humaniora and Simpang UKU Parks, which already operate around the clock. The ongoing improvements include maintaining ornamental plants, repairing pathways, repainting fences, trimming obstructive trees, installing two floodlights, renovating guard posts, and creating a multipurpose main hall.

Staff member Agus Maryanto reported that work began on September 8 and is expected to be completed by October 13, with progress currently around 70 percent. The repainting covers 200 meters of concrete fence and 100 meters of iron fencing. Additionally, the team is planting yellow Philo plants and supporting 49 mature trees, including species such as Pule, Ketapang Kencana, Matoa, Spathodea, and Flamboyan.

This renovation aims to provide East Jakarta residents with a safe, accessible, and well-equipped public space for sports, leisure, and community activities. By upgrading facilities and enhancing park aesthetics, the project seeks to encourage greater usage throughout the day and night. The inclusion of CCTV and improved lighting reflects a focus on security, while the multipurpose areas accommodate a range of recreational activities. Once complete, Flamboyan Park is expected to become a prominent community hub for local residents.

The project demonstrates East Jakarta’s commitment to expanding green spaces and improving urban public amenities. Integrating environmental care, safety, and community utility, the initiative aligns with broader citywide goals of creating inclusive, functional, and attractive parks. By combining aesthetic enhancements with practical infrastructure, the park is positioned to serve diverse age groups and activities. Ultimately, the Flamboyan Park renovation exemplifies a strategic effort to enhance the quality of life and leisure options in the area.
