The Head of the Water Resources Implementation Unit (SDA) in Kelapa Gading District, Jhoni Sariyanto Situmorang, reported that the repair work on the Boulevard Utara connecting channel embankment has reached 85 percent completion. The project, located on Jalan Boulevard Utara, covers a 27-meter stretch with a height of 1.5 meters and began in early October. It was initiated in response to complaints submitted through the JAKI public service application. Authorities aim to finish the construction by the end of this week.
Jhoni explained that the previous embankment had collapsed in several areas due to age and erosion from high water discharge. If left unrepaired, the damage could have worsened and posed a risk to nearby residents, as the site is close to a main road. The reconstruction is being carried out manually by seven members of the Blue Troops task force. The materials used include river stones and dolken wood, reinforced with concrete and plaster for added durability.
He expressed hope that the completed structure will improve drainage efficiency and reduce the risk of flooding in the area. The new embankment is also expected to enhance safety and comfort for residents, particularly during the rainy season. Jhoni added that stable weather conditions would help the project stay on schedule. He emphasized the importance of maintaining infrastructure resilience in rapidly developing urban zones like North Jakarta.
Meanwhile, a local resident from Pegangsaan Dua, Naura Nistina, expressed her appreciation for the swift action taken by the SDA team. She noted that the repaired sections now appear sturdy and professionally built. Naura said the improvements have helped residents feel more secure during heavy rainfall. She hopes there will be no further landslides and commended the efficiency and neatness of the construction crew.
