The Green Task Force of the East Jakarta City Forestry and Urban Parks Office successfully evacuated three fallen and leaning trees following heavy rain and strong winds. Head of the East Jakarta Forestry and Urban Parks Office, Dwi Ponangsera, explained that the trees fell near roads, with some hitting power lines and road barriers. He added that two additional fallen Kapuk trees in Setu Urban Forest were scheduled for evacuation later the same day. The swift response prioritized clearing trees near roads to prevent disruptions to residents’ daily activities.
Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita, Head of the Green Routes and Cemetery Section, detailed that a 20-centimeter diameter Tabebuya tree fell on Jalan Radin Inten II in Duren Sawit. A 30-centimeter diameter Tanjung tree leaned over Jalan Laut Arafuru, while a 15-centimeter Jenjeng tree was down in Taman Barkah, Rawa Bunga. He emphasized that trees near roads received immediate attention due to the risk of obstructing traffic and daily life.
For the evacuation, 30 personnel from the Green Task Force were deployed along with three trucks to remove the fallen and leaning trees. The cleared trees were transported to a vacant lot owned by the Forestry and Urban Parks Office on Jalan Rawa Binong, Lubang Buaya. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to maintain safety and accessibility throughout East Jakarta during extreme weather events.
Authorities reminded residents to remain cautious around trees during heavy rains and strong winds. They encouraged reporting any potentially hazardous trees to ensure timely intervention. This proactive approach is intended to prevent accidents, power outages, and road blockages. The Forestry and Urban Parks Office continues to monitor vulnerable areas and respond rapidly when incidents occur.
