The National Center for Non-Profit Sector (NCNP) concluded the first International Nonprofit Forum (Beyond Profit) in Riyadh under the patronage of Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi, who also chairs the NCNP Board of Directors. The three-day event gathered more than 3,800 participants from public, private, and nonprofit sectors, along with international organizations, philanthropic foundations, social entrepreneurs, and CSR leaders. More than 100 speakers from 20 countries joined 30 panel discussions, an executive program, and over 25 workshops focused on strengthening the future role of the nonprofit sector and expanding its economic and social impact. Discussions emphasized enhancing enablers, deepening partnerships, and drawing on global expertise.
NCNP announced two major initiatives during the forum: the Nonprofit Insurance Initiative “Wasaq” and the Nonprofit Research Awards, both designed to support sector workers, encourage innovation, and strengthen the institutional capabilities of nonprofit organizations. The forum also saw the signing of more than 43 agreements and memorandums aimed at organizational development, scientific research, capacity building, digital transformation, and improved data governance. Delegates positioned these partnerships as a vehicle to boost nonprofit effectiveness and readiness. Another highlight was the launch of the Corporate Volunteering Network to help private-sector organizations establish volunteering departments and increase the impact of corporate volunteering. The program seeks to connect stakeholders, provide practical guides, and enhance healthy competition in volunteer work.
The forum activated the Social Impact Investment Rules through the issuance of 29 Social Investment Certificates to nonprofit entities, with the goal of regulating certification standards and boosting investor confidence. The National Volunteering Award was held as part of the forum, honoring 37 winners across 31 award categories in the Honorary, Institutional, Volunteer Initiatives, and Individual Volunteers pathways. NCNP CEO Ahmed Al-Suwailem described the forum as evidence of the strong support the nonprofit sector receives from Saudi leadership and a vital enabler of sustainable development under Vision 2030. He added that the platform strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position as an international hub for social innovation and strategic partnerships in the nonprofit field. The CEO emphasized that the forum is expected to drive tangible outcomes, including expanded professional networks, increased social investment, and broader adoption of global best practices.
The closing of the forum coincided with International Volunteer Day on December 5, reinforcing the value of volunteerism to national development. Organizers highlighted the growing role of volunteers in Saudi Arabia’s nonprofit landscape and the country’s efforts to build a more structured and impactful volunteer ecosystem. Through its awards, initiatives, and discussions, the forum signaled a milestone in embedding volunteerism and nonprofit activity as pillars of sustainable development. The event illustrated the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening a culture of giving, supporting community participation, and increasing both national and global influence of the nonprofit sector in alignment with Vision 2030.
