The Jakarta Provincial Government, through its Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, organized the 2025 Christmas Creative Market at Lapangan Banteng Park in Central Jakarta. The Head of the Jakarta Provincial Government Christmas Committee, Michael Rolandi Cesnanta Brata, said the event was part of a broader Christmas celebration series involving multiple regional government offices. The program officially began with the Christmas Carol Kolosal opening on December 11, 2025. Additional activities include the Christmas Creative Market on December 20–21 and a second Christmas Carol Kolosal scheduled for December 23.
Michael explained that the event reflects the provincial government’s support for celebrating Christmas among Christian communities while welcoming the wider public. The market features various attractions, including talk shows with public figures such as Dodit Mulyanto, Wavi Zihan, Fajar Martha, and Sunar Samtani. Cultural programming is complemented by exhibitions from Jakarta Art House and a communal film screening of Tanda Tanya by Misbar Kota. These activities aim to create an inclusive and festive atmosphere in a public urban space.
The Christmas Creative Market also showcases 40 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises offering locally made crafts, food products, and Christmas-themed souvenirs. The Tourism and Creative Economy Agency additionally hosted the Jakarta Park Voices Competition, competing for the Governor of Jakarta’s Cup. Participants ranged from children to adults, performing Christmas-themed songs across multiple categories. The competition emphasized community participation and creative expression.
Michael stated that the event represents Jakarta’s commitment to promoting diversity as a social and cultural strength. He noted that embracing inclusivity is seen as a foundation for the city’s ambition to position itself as a global metropolis. Visitors expressed enthusiasm for the event, citing the comfortable seating, live music, and shared film screenings as highlights. The overall response underscored the role of public cultural events in fostering togetherness and urban vibrancy.
