Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, through the Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM), launched a Cheap Market Bazaar at Rusun Pesakih in West Jakarta to maintain price stability and expand access to affordable food. The event offered a range of essential goods, including rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, eggs, and MSME products at low prices. Six major food suppliers such as PD Pasar Jaya, Bulog, Rajawali Nusindo, Food Station, Dharma Jaya, and Alfresh Gedong supported the initiative. Eight fostered MSMEs also participated by showcasing their featured products.
Head of PPKUKM DKI Jakarta, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, emphasized that the Cheap Market Bazaar continued from similar activities held in Central and North Jakarta over the previous two days. According to the official, the positive public reception in both regions strengthened the local government’s commitment to expand the program across the city. The initiative was described as a means of ensuring residents have accessible options for basic necessities, particularly during challenging economic conditions. The government viewed community engagement as a vital component in maintaining momentum for recurring events.
The economic intention behind the bazaar, officials said, is to reduce household spending burdens while keeping economic activity vibrant at the community level. The program encourages purchasing power without forcing consumers to navigate volatile market prices. At the same time, the activity empowers small businesses with a commercial platform in high-density residential areas. The government said this dual impact helps balance consumption with micro-enterprise development.
PPKUKM argued that strengthening MSMEs remains a key priority, especially amid shifting consumer trends and economic uncertainty. Officials described the bazaar as a real step to support equitable access to food while stimulating local micro-entrepreneurs. The event is positioned not as a one-off charity gesture but as a strategy of ongoing economic support for both sellers and buyers. The office concluded that sustained implementation of the Cheap Market Bazaar should provide tangible benefits and help maintain stability at the household economy level.
