Jakarta Provincial Government Spreads Christmas Cheer at Rawinala Orphanage

The Jakarta Provincial Government’s Christmas Committee has delivered assistance to the Social Care Foundation for People with Multiple Disabilities, Dwituna Rawinala, in East Jakarta, turning seasonal ritual into a public statement of solidarity. Chairman of the Committee, Michael Rolandi Cesnanta Brata, said the handover reflected the core values of Christmas that emphasise togetherness and tolerance. He noted that the foundation received 25 million rupiah in cash along with kitchen equipment, framing the gesture as practical compassion rather than symbolic charity. In this editorial framing, generosity is presented as policy in action.

Brata explained that the initiative forms part of a wider Christmas programme that reaches 14 foundations and social homes across Jakarta without regard to religious background. The outreach is intended to spread festive joy beyond congregations and into institutions that carry the daily burden of care. By aligning the activity with this year’s theme, God Is Present to Save the Family, his organisation positioned Christmas as a civic rather than sectarian moment. The city is thus portrayed as a family that extends beyond blood ties.

Acting Director of Dwituna Rawinala, Abimanyu Santoso Mudito, expressed appreciation for the provincial government’s concern and presence. He said the visit and support were deeply meaningful to residents and staff alike, signalling that the institution is not forgotten in the city’s celebratory calendar. His response reinforces the editorial idea that social care flourishes when recognition is as steady as funding. Gratitude here becomes evidence of trust between state and community.

The ceremony was attended by a range of provincial and district officials, including Regional Cooperation Bureau Head Marulina Dewi, Social Affairs Department Secretary Bakwan Ginting, East Jakarta Social Affairs Sub-agency Head Agata Bayu Putra, and Kramat Jati Vice Sub-district Head Ali Mansyur Siregar. Their collective presence underscored that the act was not a lone initiative but a coordinated stance of government. In the final analysis, the Christmas handover to Dwituna Rawinala stands as a reminder that tolerance is not only spoken in speeches, but enacted in budgets, visits, and sustained attention.
