Tebet Subdistrict Head Urges Agencies and Community Groups to Actively Prevent Clashes in Manggarai

The Head of Tebet Subdistrict, Putut Puji Linangkung, called on Regional Government Agencies, community organizations, and neighborhood leaders to actively help prevent street clashes. He said the subdistrict government would immediately coordinate with all related parties to address the renewed incidents early this year. Law enforcement and public order officers had already intervened by dispersing crowds and separating the groups involved. Security posts around public areas were also being maintained by municipal police and the national police.

Putut stated that a coordination meeting was being held to reassess technical handling of the problem after new clashes occurred. All neighborhood administrators, agencies, and community groups were invited to discuss the roots of the violence. The discussion aimed to identify social, economic, and environmental factors contributing to the clashes. The meeting was positioned as a forum for joint problem solving rather than mere enforcement.

Neighborhood representatives were asked to submit proposals such as community activities, empowerment programs, and job opportunities. Relevant agencies would then respond and follow up on these proposals through concrete programs. Authorities also requested each agency to present its planned activities for the next year. The goal was to ensure that residents would have productive monthly programs to participate in.

Putut emphasized that the outcomes of the discussions would be socialized to residents through neighborhood leaders. This was intended to ensure transparency and public awareness of government efforts. He said the administration would conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the causes and triggers of the clashes. The ultimate objective was to find sustainable solutions that prevent future violence and strengthen community cohesion.
