The Municipal Public Order Agency of North Jakarta conducted a simultaneous liquor control operation across six sub-districts at the start of Ramadan, in collaboration with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri). During the operation, officers confiscated 637 bottles of alcoholic beverages of various brands from several small shops. The initiative aimed to maintain public order and ensure a conducive environment throughout the holy month.
Head of Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) North Jakarta, Budhy Novian, stated that the operation was part of enforcing Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2007 on Public Order. He emphasized that the measure was intended to ensure residents, particularly in North Jakarta, could observe Ramadan in a safe, peaceful, and solemn atmosphere. A total of 165 joint personnel were deployed, with numbers adjusted based on the specific needs and conditions of each sub-district.
Budhy expressed hope that strong cooperation between authorities and the community would continue, not only during Ramadan but beyond. He encouraged residents to actively report any violations, stressing that public participation plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure and orderly environment. The confiscated alcohol has been collected at the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office for documentation and legal processing, pending a court decision for destruction.
Meanwhile, Head of Operations Section of Satpol PP North Jakarta, Aries Cahyadi, noted that the enforcement was carried out in a persuasive and humane manner to ensure smooth and safe proceedings. In addition to the liquor operation, Satpol PP also conducted broader public order operations targeting street brawls, thuggery, drug-related offenses, and monitoring of nightlife establishments. Authorities hope these measures will help maintain stability and public order throughout Ramadan.
