Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has assured the public that food supplies in the capital remain secure despite recent periods of extreme weather. Speaking ahead of major religious observances, he emphasized that the provincial government has taken early steps to prevent disruptions. Food security, he noted, is a priority as demand typically rises during festive seasons. The assurance is aimed at maintaining public confidence.
Pramono highlighted that meat supplies, which often face pressure during religious holidays, are also being closely monitored. He said preparations are already in place to anticipate increased consumption ahead of Lunar New Year, Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr. According to him, Jakarta is positioning itself to avoid shortages or price instability. This approach reflects a broader effort to stabilize essential commodities.
The Jakarta Provincial Government has coordinated supply management well in advance, Pramono said. Planning includes monitoring stock levels and distribution channels to ensure smooth delivery into the city. These measures are intended to mitigate risks caused by weather-related disruptions. The strategy focuses on prevention rather than reactive responses.
Pramono added that constant communication with food-producing regions across Indonesia is key to maintaining supply chains. He explained that Jakarta relies on close coordination with regional leaders whose areas supply staple foods to the capital. This interregional collaboration is seen as essential to safeguarding food availability. Through these efforts, the provincial government aims to ensure food security remains uninterrupted.
