Regent of the Kepulauan Seribu, Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan, conducted a Ramadan Safari at Masjid Jami Al-Falah in Pulau Kelapa, North Thousand Islands District. The visit formed part of a broader Ramadan outreach program aimed at strengthening ties between the local administration and residents. Fadjar said the initiative serves as a platform to foster closer engagement while directly absorbing community aspirations.
During the visit, he also conveyed the commitment of the Pemerintah Provinsi DKI Jakarta, which has entered its second year of providing free transportation services for Thousand Islands residents. He encouraged residents to promptly register once the annual Free Homecoming (Mudik Gratis) program opens, noting that last year’s quota of eight transport fleets proved insufficient. The program is expected to ease mobility, particularly during the Eid holiday season.
Fadjar further reminded students planning to pursue higher education to report to their local village and subdistrict heads so their data can be forwarded to the Education Sub-department for assistance and scholarship information. He added that the Ramadan Safari series would continue with visits to other mosques across the islands. The outreach reflects the administration’s effort to maintain active communication with island communities.
Meanwhile, the local branch of Baznas Bazis Kepulauan Seribu distributed financial assistance to mosque caretakers, preachers, and underprivileged residents in several villages. Each beneficiary received Rp500,000, while operational aid of Rp5 million was granted to multiple mosques, along with Rp20 million allocated to a local Islamic study group. Officials expressed hope that the support would strengthen religious activities and enhance social welfare across the Thousand Islands.
