Civil Servants and LMK of Pondok Bambu Distribute Free Iftar Meals

Civil servants and the Community Council (LMK) of Pondok Bambu in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, distributed free iftar snacks to motorists passing along Jalan Kejaksaan every Friday and Saturday during Ramadan. The initiative aims to assist road users who are still commuting when it is time to break their fast. The activity has become a visible expression of community solidarity during the holy month.

Pondok Bambu Subdistrict Head Ateng Surahman praised the LMK and local officials for organizing the program. He expressed hope that similar efforts would continue and inspire other community forums to take part. A total of 100 boxes of ready-to-eat meals and bottled water are distributed during each session.

Deputy Chair of LMK Pondok Bambu, Heru Irianto Basuki, explained that the initiative is intended to help motorists who may not have time to stop at a mosque or prayer room for iftar. He noted that the takjil-sharing activity has become an annual Ramadan tradition in the area. The organizers see it as a simple yet meaningful way to support residents.

One beneficiary, Andi, a 36-year-old online motorcycle taxi driver, said the distribution greatly helps him while working on the road. Receiving food in advance ensures he does not miss the moment to break his fast on time. For many drivers, the program provides both practical support and a sense of communal care during Ramadan.
