A total of 35 students from elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels participated in the Ramadan Ceria Berkah Competition for the 1447 Hijri year. The event was held at the Transit Office of the Thousand Islands Education Sub-agency in Sunter Agung, North Jakarta. Assistant for Government and Public Welfare of the Thousand Islands Regency, Purnomo, said the activity plays an important role in shaping the character of young people. He added that the competition helps instill religious values and strengthen faith among students from the Thousand Islands area.
Purnomo explained that the event marked the regency-level selection after participants previously passed screening stages at the village and district levels. He expressed hope that the competition would motivate students to sharpen their abilities and develop a healthy competitive spirit. According to him, the event is not merely a contest but also a platform for mental and spiritual development among young generations. He added that the competition is expected to produce representatives who can proudly represent the Thousand Islands at the provincial level in Jakarta.
Head of the Thousand Islands Education Sub-agency, Muhammad Thohari, said the competition featured five categories: Pildacil or young preacher selection, the call to prayer, Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran, religious singing, and hadroh performance. A total of 35 students joined the event, and the winners will represent the Thousand Islands Regency at the provincial competition. Thohari noted that students from the archipelago region possess strong potential and are capable of competing with participants from other parts of Jakarta.
One participant, Alifatul Warda from SDN Pulau Panggang 02 Pagi, said she felt proud to take part in the MTQ category for elementary school students. She described the competition as her first experience participating at the regency level and said she was excited to give her best performance. Alifatul expressed optimism about advancing to the provincial stage while hoping the event would continue in the future. She added that such competitions provide valuable experience and motivate students to keep practicing and improving their skills.
