The South Jakarta Journalists Forum, Wartawan Jakarta Selatan, marked the holy month of Ramadan by organizing a social charity event for orphans. The activity took place at Ruang Nusantara in the South Jakarta Mayor’s Office in Jakarta. During the event, journalists provided assistance to dozens of orphaned children as part of a community outreach initiative. The program aimed to share happiness and support with children ahead of the upcoming holiday season.
South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the activity reflects journalists’ commitment not only to reporting but also to social responsibility. According to him, the event serves as a reminder for the community to continue caring for orphaned children. He encouraged members of the journalists’ association to help ensure that these children feel secure and supported in their daily lives. The mayor added that attention to their educational and basic needs is essential so they can grow with confidence.
Anwar also expressed hope that cooperation between the journalists’ association and the South Jakarta city administration would continue to strengthen. He said the collaboration could support both social and physical development efforts in the area. In his view, the partnership that has developed so far has been positive and should continue to expand in the future. He also encouraged the organization to remain active not only in journalism but also in broader community initiatives.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the association, Roebin Tarigan, said the activity was organized as a gesture of gratitude and solidarity with children from less fortunate backgrounds. A total of around 40 orphaned children received support through the program so they could celebrate Eid al-Fitr with greater joy. Tarigan expressed hope that similar social activities would continue beyond Ramadan and become a regular effort to strengthen cooperation with the South Jakarta government. He added that the initiative is expected to inspire others to increase their concern and support for communities in need.
