The West Jakarta Administrative City Government commemorated Kartini Day with the theme “Kartini Re:Power West Jakarta – Empowered Women, Globally Oriented Jakarta Rooted in Culture.” The event, held at Walkot Farm 4.0 at the Mayor’s Office, was opened by Mayor of West Jakarta, Iin Mutmainah. Activities included the signing and declaration of women’s empowerment, a talk show, tree planting, and a Batik Gobang fashion show. The program reflects an effort to promote the role of women in both cultural and social development.
Iin Mutmainah emphasized that the event carries a message about resilience and empowerment for women in modern society. She stated that women today are expected to be multi-talented, balancing domestic responsibilities with broader contributions. According to her, women also play a key role in supporting family food security. This perspective highlights the evolving expectations placed on women in contemporary urban life.
Iin also reminded participants not to overlook their role as mothers in the digital era. She stressed the importance of direct interaction with children rather than relying solely on gadgets. Such engagement, she noted, contributes positively to children’s development and education. Her remarks underline the balance between technological adaptation and traditional parenting values.
Deputy Chair of the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council, Rany Mauliani, described the event as a symbol of solidarity among women. She stated that women, whether in public roles or as homemakers, must continue to provide positive influence within society. Rany emphasized that women’s contributions today extend beyond supporting families to becoming active agents of change. The event ultimately reinforces the growing recognition of women’s roles in shaping society.
