The revitalization of Muara Karang Market in Pluit, North Jakarta, is progressing steadily, with construction reaching 35 percent completion by the end of March 2026. The modern market is targeted to be fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2026, reflecting ongoing efforts to upgrade public trading facilities. Developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) confirmed that the project has passed critical early stages, with all foundation and substructure work already completed.
Current construction is focused on the upper structure, which has reached the sixth floor across about half of the building area. Jakpro President Director Iwan Takwin expressed confidence that the project will meet its operational target by the end of the year. He emphasized that the transformation aims to provide a cleaner, more comfortable, and representative marketplace for the community, particularly residents of North Jakarta.
Beyond physical improvements, the project is designed to support the Jakarta provincial government’s broader vision of building a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable global city. The revamped market is expected to foster a more organized and productive economic ecosystem while also serving as a social and cultural hub for the community. This reflects a shift toward modern urban markets that balance commercial activity with public space functions.
The new Muara Karang Market will feature integrated modern facilities, including improved air circulation systems, adequate parking, organized vendor zoning, and supporting amenities such as a sports center on the sixth floor. Strong business interest is already evident, with occupancy rates for stalls and kiosks nearing 70 percent even before completion. This early demand signals confidence in the market’s future role as a key economic center in North Jakarta and highlights opportunities for long-term business growth.
