Residents of Sungai Bambu Village, Tanjung Priok District, have welcomed the recent improvements in waste management under the Ir Wiyoto Wiyono Toll Road. The area, once an illegal dumping site, is now much cleaner and better organized. Ridwan, head of RT 06/05, said the changes have had a positive impact on the community. He added that the location is now closed to the public, and hopes remain for a more permanent and representative TPS in the future.
Ridwan explained that most of the waste previously came from outside Sungai Bambu, while residents themselves produced relatively little. The cleanup has reduced unpleasant odors, and the community is now more engaged in waste separation. Weekly programs led by Family Welfare and Empowerment (PKK) cadres help residents maintain proper disposal habits. These initiatives are part of broader efforts to keep the neighborhood safe, clean, and sustainable.
Syaiful Anwar, Sungai Bambu Village Head, confirmed that the TPS is now better organized and monitored. As a short-term solution, compactor trucks are used for waste collection, requiring residents to deposit trash directly from carts. Once the two trucks are filled daily, disposal closes and the area is cleaned to prevent further accumulation. Operational hours run from 08:00 to around 14:00 WIB, ensuring orderly and efficient waste management.
The administration emphasized that these services are reserved for Sungai Bambu residents only. Waste from outside areas is expected to be disposed of at their respective TPS locations. The collaboration between local authorities and residents demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated waste management. Overall, the program highlights the importance of community participation and government support in maintaining urban cleanliness.
