Fallen Trees and Broken Branches in East Jakarta Fully Evacuated

The Green Troops of Suku Dinas Pertamanan dan Hutan Kota Jakarta Timur successfully evacuated four fallen trees and one damaged tree branch following strong winds in East Jakarta. Head of the Green Line and Cemetery Section, Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita, said a Salam tree with a diameter of around 90 centimeters collapsed on Jalan Masjid Darulaman in Bidara Cina, Jatinegara, blocking the roadway. At the same location, an Aren tree and two Loa trees of similar size also fell and struck the roof of a local Islamic study assembly building. The incident highlighted the vulnerability of large roadside trees during periods of extreme weather and strong wind conditions in the capital.

Another tree-related incident occurred on Jalan DI Panjaitan near the Hutan Kota UKI Cawang Busway pedestrian bridge in Kebon Pala, Makasar. A Kersen tree with a diameter of approximately 20 centimeters suffered a broken branch after being hit by strong winds. Authorities described the event as a sempal incident, referring to a partially broken or damaged tree section that posed potential danger to motorists and pedestrians. The situation prompted immediate action from local emergency response teams to prevent further disruption and ensure public safety in the surrounding area.

To handle the evacuation process, around 30 personnel from the Green Troops and Orange Troops were deployed to clear the fallen trees and damaged branches. The operation involved cutting and removing large tree trunks that had blocked roads and damaged nearby structures. Rapid response efforts were considered essential to restore traffic flow and minimize the risk of additional accidents during unstable weather conditions. The incident also underscored the importance of regular monitoring and maintenance of urban trees in densely populated areas such as Jakarta.

Local residents expressed appreciation for the swift response shown by officers during the evacuation process. A resident of Bidara Cina, Imam, thanked the personnel for quickly removing the fallen tree that had struck the roof of the majelis taklim building in his neighborhood. According to residents, the rapid cleanup helped reduce concerns over possible further damage and allowed community activities to resume more safely. The response from local authorities reflected ongoing efforts by city agencies to improve disaster mitigation and emergency handling during periods of extreme weather in the capital.
