Assistant for Government Affairs of Central Jakarta, Prasetyo Kurniawan, said a joint parking enforcement operation in the Tanah Abang area resulted in action against 186 traffic violators on Tuesday. The operation involved personnel from the Transportation Agency, Social Agency, Public Order Agency, Police, and Military. Activities began with a joint assembly at the National Monument near the Gambir Station entrance before officers moved to enforcement locations. Authorities described the effort as part of a broader initiative to improve comfort and order for road users.
The operation focused on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, stretching from the front of Block A at Tanah Abang Market to the turnaround area near the Intiland building and back toward Tanah Abang Station. Officials argued that illegal parking and unauthorized parking attendants have contributed to traffic congestion and urban disorder in several parts of the district. The enforcement campaign was therefore aimed at restoring smoother traffic flow in one of Jakarta’s busiest commercial zones. Authorities indicated that similar actions will continue on a routine basis to encourage compliance with parking regulations.
According to Civil Servant Investigator of the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency, Heri Sugiarto, a total of 186 vehicles were sanctioned during the operation. The penalties included net transport sanctions for 24 motorcycles, towing measures for four cars, and valve-removal sanctions for 150 motorcycles and eight cars. Three unauthorized parking attendants were also detained at separate locations during the enforcement activity. The results highlighted the scale of parking violations that continue to challenge traffic management in the area.
Officials explained that owners of motorcycles subjected to net transport sanctions can reclaim their vehicles by presenting proof of ownership at the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency office. They will also face traffic ticket procedures administered by the police. The operation reflects a continuing commitment by city authorities to address illegal parking practices and improve road discipline. By maintaining regular enforcement, the administration hopes to reduce congestion and create a more orderly environment for residents, commuters, and visitors.
