The Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency launched the 2026 Domestic Internship Program for High School Graduates Batch II at the Bank Jakarta Learning Center in South Jakarta. The program is designed to give recent high school graduates an opportunity to gain exposure to the workplace and better prepare themselves for future employment. Public interest has been exceptionally strong, with 16,885 applicants across the first and second batches. However, only 1,000 participants were selected, including 727 in Batch I and 273 in Batch II.
The internship program is being carried out in partnership with dozens of companies across Jakarta, involving 67 participating firms in the first batch and 40 in the second. Participants will undergo six months of on-the-job training, with Batch I running from May to October 2026 and Batch II from June to November 2026. According to Jakarta Manpower Agency Head Syaripudin, the initiative aims to equip young people with practical experience and skills that align with current industry and labor market demands. He said the program reflects the government’s commitment to helping young residents remain competitive amid economic and global workforce challenges.
Syaripudin encouraged participants to make the most of the opportunity by actively learning, gaining experience, and maintaining professionalism throughout the internship period. He reminded them that they were selected from thousands of applicants and are expected to represent the Jakarta Provincial Government positively at their host companies. In addition to workplace experience, participants receive a monthly allowance of Rp2.5 million funded through the Jakarta provincial budget. He expressed hope that the six-month program would provide valuable preparation for either higher education or professional careers.
Independent Commissioner of Bank Jakarta, Kiryanto, also voiced support for the initiative, noting that Bank Jakarta has participated since the program’s first batch in May 2026. He described the bank’s involvement as both support for a government program and part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. Kiryanto believes the internship program can help participants become more economically independent while strengthening their competencies and capabilities. He added that initiatives like this are essential in preparing Jakarta’s younger generation to enter the workforce with greater confidence and readiness.
