To celebrate the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence, the Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik DKI) held a series of traditional competitions at the National Monument (Monas) on Friday, August 21. The activities included sarong relay races, word-arranging challenges, and sack races, involving employees from Diskominfotik offices across Jakarta’s five municipalities and the Thousand Islands. The event was organized not only as part of the Independence Day celebrations, but also to strengthen camaraderie among employees. Organizers hoped the activities would foster stronger teamwork within the agency.
Employees welcomed the opportunity to gather and participate in the festivities together. Edwin Senjaya from the Thousand Islands Diskominfotik office said the event provided a valuable opportunity for employees to become more united while strengthening their ability to work together. He noted that teamwork is particularly important because Diskominfotik employees are responsible for supporting public services across Jakarta. The competitions therefore served as a way to reinforce cooperation beyond their regular workplace duties.
Edwin emphasized that the activities could help build stronger relationships among employees from different offices. He said the nature of their work requires close coordination and teamwork, making employee solidarity important for maintaining effective public services. Fatimah Putri Jarir from the Central Jakarta Diskominfotik office shared a similar view, saying she enjoyed the opportunity to have fun and compete with colleagues. The gathering also allowed employees from different parts of Jakarta to interact outside their usual professional environment.
The Independence Day celebration ultimately combined entertainment with an emphasis on workplace solidarity. By bringing employees together through informal competitions, Diskominfotik DKI aimed to strengthen internal cooperation and team spirit. The event also provided a chance for employees to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day collectively. Organizers hope the stronger camaraderie will translate into better coordination and higher-quality services for Jakarta residents.
