Kramat Jati Market in East Jakarta is being prepared to accommodate street vendors who have been operating on the sidewalks along Jalan Raya Bogor. Perumda Pasar Jaya has prepared 282 business spaces for the relocation, consisting of 23 stalls, 136 kiosks, and 123 market spaces. All of the spaces are ready to be occupied by the vendors. The relocation is intended to provide them with more suitable places to continue their businesses.
As part of the transition, Perumda Pasar Jaya will waive rental fees for the first six months. Vendors will still be responsible for paying electricity and water costs according to their consumption. After the six-month exemption period ends, they will be required to pay rent or market fees in accordance with applicable regulations. The available spaces can accommodate various businesses, including banana sellers, snack vendors, soup sellers, vegetable traders, and meat and poultry sellers.
Perumda Pasar Jaya said the relocation is designed to support the orderly arrangement of the area while allowing vendors to maintain their livelihoods. The provision of hundreds of designated spaces is also expected to give traders a more appropriate environment in which to operate. Authorities are encouraging vendors to immediately occupy the spaces that have been prepared. The arrangement is intended to ensure commercial activities can continue without violating regulations.
The relocation is also aimed at restoring the sidewalks along Jalan Raya Bogor to their intended function as pedestrian facilities. Authorities want to prevent street trading from obstructing pedestrians or contributing to traffic congestion. Perumda Pasar Jaya said the initiative represents an effort to balance the needs of local traders with the public’s right to safe and accessible pedestrian infrastructure. Through the arrangement, vendors can continue their businesses while the surrounding area becomes more orderly.
