The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) predicts mostly partly cloudy weather across Jakarta on Monday, August 17, 2026, as Indonesia celebrates its 81st Independence Day. The forecast applies to Central, West, South, East, and North Jakarta, as well as the Thousand Islands. The favorable conditions are expected to support flag-raising ceremonies and community celebrations across the capital. No significant potential for heavy rain is forecast in the five administrative cities.
In the morning, Jakarta is expected to see light cloud cover with sufficient sunshine. These conditions are considered favorable for the Proclamation Independence Day ceremony and various community competitions. The weather is forecast to remain relatively stable from afternoon through evening. Residents can therefore expect generally pleasant conditions for outdoor activities throughout the day.
BMKG forecasts temperatures between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity ranging from 55 to 85 percent. Despite the generally favorable weather, residents spending time outdoors during the day are advised to protect themselves from direct sunlight. People are also encouraged to maintain adequate hydration, particularly during afternoon activities. These precautions are important as temperatures could reach 33 degrees Celsius.

The Jakarta Provincial Government and security authorities are encouraging residents to maintain public order and cleanliness during the festivities.
