Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling Officers (PPSU) from Bambu Apus Subdistrict, Cipayung, East Jakarta, were deployed to help clean debris left by a house fire on Jalan Kenanga, RT 01/01. Six PPSU personnel worked alongside the homeowner and local residents to clear the remains of the damaged building. The effort was organized as a community cleanup following the fire. Local authorities said the assistance was intended to speed up the post-fire recovery process.
Bambu Apus Subdistrict Head Marissya Ariestiary said the debris was first collected and placed into sacks to make the cleanup and removal process more manageable. PPSU operational vehicles were then used to transport the remaining materials from the site. Some of the debris was taken to a temporary waste collection facility, while other materials were reused as fill for vacant land near the fire site. The process allowed the area to be cleared while making practical use of some of the remaining construction material.
Local resident Eko, 41, welcomed the quick response from the subdistrict administration in helping with the post-fire cleanup. He noted that the work required considerable manpower because the fire had damaged a two-story house. The involvement of PPSU personnel reduced the burden on the affected homeowner while allowing residents to participate directly in the recovery effort. The joint cleanup also demonstrated how local government resources can support residents after a neighborhood emergency.
Beyond removing debris, the activity reinforced the tradition of gotong royong, or mutual community cooperation, among residents. Eko said helping people affected by a disaster should be regarded as a shared responsibility within the community. Cooperation between PPSU personnel, the homeowner, and residents can help restore the affected area more quickly. Such community-based assistance also provides practical support while strengthening solidarity among neighbors after a disaster.
