Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Jakarta Inspectorate held a Dharma Wanita Mengajar talk show under the theme Women of Integrity in a Global City at Vertu Hotel Harmoni on September 15. Chairwoman of DWP Jakarta, Lisniawati Uus Kuswanto, said the event was more than a knowledge-sharing forum and represented a commitment to strengthening women’s role in building a culture of integrity. She emphasized that character education is shaped not only through lessons, but also through the examples children see and experience from those closest to them. Women therefore have an important role in creating positive change, particularly within the family.
Lisniawati said DWP should function as more than a space for social gatherings and maintaining relationships among members. Through its Dharma Wanita Mengajar program, the organization aims to provide women with opportunities to learn, develop, share knowledge, and contribute to society. The program also brings these efforts closer to younger generations by promoting literacy and strengthening character values. This approach places women at the center of efforts to build integrity from everyday family life outward.
Acting Assistant Inspector for Investigations at the Jakarta Inspectorate, Supendi, said women are often the first educators within families, introducing children to honesty, discipline, responsibility, concern for others, and the courage to do what is right. He added that women can also become agents of change in organizations and society through professionalism, exemplary conduct, and concern for the public interest. Integrity, he argued, is built through consistent behavior rather than advice alone, including keeping promises, using resources responsibly, rejecting gratification and misconduct, acting fairly, and speaking up when something is wrong. Such everyday examples can turn integrity from an abstract principle into a practical habit at home, in the workplace, and in public spaces.
Through Dharma Wanita Mengajar, discussions about integrity and an anti-corruption culture are intended to be translated into concrete action. Supendi stressed that DWP’s engagement with educational institutions should provide young people with knowledge, experience, and motivation while supporting efforts to build families of integrity in Jakarta. The initiative will require continued cooperation among DWP, families, schools, government institutions, and the wider community to develop a generation that is capable, principled, courageous, and concerned with the public interest. Ultimately, the message is straightforward: women with integrity can help build stronger families, and stronger families can shape the character of Jakarta’s future generation as the capital develops as a global city.
