A total of 1,593 beneficiary households in Manggarai Selatan, Tebet, South Jakarta, have received food assistance consisting of 30 kilograms of rice per household. The assistance covers a three-month allocation for July, August, and September. Distribution was carried out over two days for beneficiaries across 10 community units. On the final day, 430 recipients collected their assistance, including residents who had missed their earlier distribution schedule.
Manggarai Selatan Urban Village Head, Sri Nurwiyanti, said the final distribution also accommodated replacement beneficiaries identified through updated field data. Some previous recipients were removed from the program after their welfare ranking, or decile, improved beyond the eligibility threshold. Their allocations were subsequently transferred to other residents who met the requirements. The process was conducted after the urban village administration reviewed beneficiary data directly in the community.
The assistance is intended for households classified within deciles one through four based on their welfare status. Residents who question changes to their eligibility are directed to social assistance officers for further assessment. Their information can then be resurveyed and submitted to the Ministry of Social Affairs for potential updates to their welfare classification. This process is intended to keep the distribution system aligned with the latest conditions of residents.
Residents have welcomed the rice assistance as useful support for meeting their families’ basic needs. One beneficiary, Rusidah, said the program provides meaningful help for households with limited financial resources. She also expressed hope that the assistance program would continue without interruption in the future. The distribution highlights the role of targeted food aid in supporting vulnerable households while beneficiary data continues to be updated.
