Tourism Security Training in Bali Aims to Enhance Professionalism

The Directorate of Vital Object Security (Ditpamobvit) of the Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) within the Indonesian National Police officially launched a Technical Guidance (Bimtek) program focused on Bali Tourism Security 2025. Held from July 30 to August 1 at the Harris Hotel and Conventions in Denpasar, Bali, the event aimed to boost the professionalism of Tourism Police. Themed “Strengthening Precision Tourism Police to Improve Tourism Security and Safety in Support of Asta Cita,” the program emphasized upgrading personnel capacity, competence, and synergy nationwide. This initiative reflects the police’s proactive role in safeguarding tourism amid growing socio-political dynamics.

Inspector General of Police Mulia Hasudungan Ritonga, Head of the Security Maintenance Agency, formally opened the event alongside Ditpamobvit officials. In his remarks, Ritonga highlighted the crucial role of Tourism Police in ensuring safety and comfort for visitors, particularly during periods of heightened social activity and national events. He urged officers to conduct comprehensive risk assessments of tourist destinations and to enforce security in a professional, humane, and collaborative manner. His message underscored the need for adaptive strategies to protect Indonesia’s tourism assets.

The event report was delivered by Police Commissioner Noerwiyanto, Head of the Tourism Security Sub-Directorate, who framed the program as a strategic step toward implementing the National Police’s “Presisi” vision within the tourism sector. Guest speakers included Balinese tourism scholar I Nyoman Sunarta, officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Chairman of the Bali Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), and Brigadier General of Police Suhendri. Topics addressed ranged from local tourism development to inter-agency collaboration in tourist site security. These sessions aimed to build knowledge and foster shared responsibility in tourism protection.

A total of 72 participants—comprising 36 Regional Pamobvit Directors and 36 Sub-Directorate Heads from across Indonesia—attended, along with high-ranking police officials and stakeholders. The event promoted stronger coordination among stakeholders to ensure a safe, comfortable, and conducive tourism environment. It also aligned with national economic recovery efforts and the realization of the eight key development goals known as “Asta Cita”. The initiative illustrates the government’s broader vision of integrating security with sustainable tourism development.
