Eight personnel from the Blue Troops of the Water Resources Implementation Unit (Satpel SDA) in Ciracas, East Jakarta, have been mobilized to carry out the revitalization of a drainage channel on Jalan Kramat, RT 10/10, Ciracas Urban Village. The project, which involves the installation of U-ditch concrete drains measuring 40 x 40 x 120 centimeters, has now reached 80 percent progress.
According to Head of Satpel SDA Ciracas, Yulia Indah, the work began on September 15, 2025, and is scheduled for completion within 20 working days. She emphasized that the effort is aimed at strengthening local infrastructure to better serve residents.
Yulia explained that the previous drainage system relied on four-inch pipes, which had deteriorated over time and frequently caused blockages. Such conditions often led to flooding during heavy rains, disrupting daily life and threatening public health. The installation of a sturdier, open-channel system is expected to provide long-term solutions to recurring problems. Her remarks underline the importance of sustainable infrastructure planning in densely populated areas.
Chairman of RW 10 Ciracas, Sukimin, expressed gratitude toward the Satpel SDA team for responding to the community’s request submitted in August. He noted that even before full completion, the new drainage channel has already shown significant impact. During recent heavy rains, water flowed smoothly through the new system, sparing local homes from the usual inundation. His statement reflects growing confidence in government responsiveness to grassroots concerns.
The Ciracas revitalization project demonstrates how timely public works can directly improve residents’ quality of life. By tackling chronic infrastructure issues, the local administration not only prevents flooding but also restores public trust. Such efforts represent small yet vital steps in building resilience against climate challenges in Jakarta. Ultimately, the success of this initiative may serve as a model for other neighborhoods grappling with similar problems.
