Barito Market Traders Gain Benefits After Moving to Fauna Center

The Sub-Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) of South Jakarta has ensured that vendors from temporary locations JS 25, 26, 30, and 96 at Barito Market will receive optimal service during their relocation to the Fauna Center in Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa. The initiative, led by Head of South Jakarta PPKUKM, Parulian Tampubolon, reflects the government’s broader effort to modernize local marketplaces and improve welfare for small business owners. Authorities confirmed that the new Fauna Center is fully prepared to accommodate 125 traders, including those selling animals, food, and other goods. This relocation aims not only to organize business zones more effectively but also to create a cleaner, greener trading environment.

In his statement, Parulian highlighted that all 125 kiosks are ready for occupancy, and beautification measures such as landscaping and garden areas will be introduced to increase the site’s appeal. He emphasized that the government’s approach prioritizes both comfort and aesthetic improvement, signaling a commitment to enhancing the city’s microeconomic landscape. To streamline the process, a digital registration link has been distributed to 118 traders targeted for relocation. This online system marks a step toward integrating digital solutions into public administration for small-scale commerce.

To ease the transition, the PPKUKM Sub-Department has provided operational vehicle assistance for traders moving their goods. Special privileges were also offered to the first five traders from each block, allowing them to choose preferred kiosk positions before others. Later arrivals will have their kiosk allocations determined through a fair draw system, ensuring transparency and equal opportunity. Such measures are intended to reduce relocation anxiety and foster cooperation among the vendor community.

Parulian expressed confidence that the new Fauna Center will attract steady foot traffic thanks to its accessibility and planned public events. Its strategic location near major transport routes is expected to boost consumer visits and encourage market vibrancy. He called on all Barito Market vendors to make full use of the facilities provided, underscoring that the government’s mission remains centered on public welfare and sustainable economic growth. Overall, the relocation represents a constructive partnership between local authorities and small traders in shaping a more inclusive urban economy.
