Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, served as the ceremony inspector during the commemoration of Heroes Day at City Hall on Monday (10/11). The ceremony was attended by civil servants from the Jakarta Provincial Government. On this occasion, Pramono reaffirmed the city’s ongoing commitment to building Jakarta into a competitive, progressive metropolis that prioritizes the welfare of its citizens. He reminded attendees that Heroes Day is not merely a ritual, but a living tribute to the courage and dedication of Indonesia’s national heroes.
Reading the official message from the Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf, Pramono emphasized that the essence of heroism should manifest through inclusive public service, fair development, and genuine social compassion. He urged public servants, educators, health workers, small business owners, and residents to embody the same spirit of selfless struggle in their daily lives. The Governor also linked the commemoration’s message with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, which focuses on strengthening national resilience, promoting social justice, advancing education, and nurturing a healthy, empowered Indonesian people.
He reflected that the heroes of the past demonstrated essential virtues such as patience, courage, honesty, solidarity, and sincerity. From them, three lessons can be learned: patience in the pursuit of knowledge and unity despite limitations, a steadfast dedication to national interest above all, and a forward-looking vision for collective prosperity. According to Pramono, these traits form the foundation of Indonesia’s continued progress and should guide future generations in fulfilling the dreams of their predecessors.
Today, the Governor said, the fight for the nation continues. No longer with sharpened bamboo, but with knowledge, empathy, and service. Yet the purpose remains the same: to defend the vulnerable, uphold justice, and ensure no Indonesian is left behind. He concluded by calling on all citizens to honor the heroes’ sacrifices through hard work, sincerity, and meaningful action, saying that the flame of their struggle must never die, but burn brighter through dedication and unity in building the nation.
