The Blue Team of the Water Resources Implementation Unit (SDA) in Ciracas, East Jakarta, is carrying out the revitalization of an 80-meter drainage channel in Gang Pos 1, RT 01/01, Kelurahan Ciracas. The head of the Ciracas SDA Unit, Yulia Indah, explained that the project was necessary due to extensive damage to the existing channel and its narrow dimensions. The revitalization involves installing a 40×40 centimeter U-ditch to improve water flow and durability. Work began on November 3, 2025, carried out manually with the involvement of eight team members.
Yulia reported that the project has currently reached approximately 40 percent completion and is scheduled to finish by December 5. The channel, originally built through community effort in 1978, had become outdated and damaged, reducing its capacity to manage rainwater effectively. Local residents frequently experienced flooding during heavy rain due to the limited capacity of the old drainage.
Perak M. Sobri, head of RT 01/01, emphasized that repair proposals had been submitted through the Musrenbang planning forum and during DPRD legislators’ recess meetings. He highlighted that the revitalization would significantly improve drainage efficiency and prevent recurring waterlogging in the area.
Sobri also expressed the community’s gratitude to the SDA Ciracas team for their efforts. The revitalization project is expected to enhance public safety and comfort while demonstrating the responsiveness of local authorities to residents’ long-standing concerns.
