Public Transport Users Welcome Improved Organization at Pulo Gadung Terminal

Pulo Gadung Terminal in East Jakarta has become increasingly organized, orderly, and clean, a development appreciated by public transportation users. Saiful, a 35-year-old regular commuter, noted that the terminal now feels more comfortable and secure, while suggesting additional lighting for further improvement. The upgrades reflect ongoing efforts to enhance the overall user experience. Authorities aim to provide a safer and more pleasant environment for all visitors.

Terminal Head, Suratman, explained that the improvements have been implemented in phases since 2023, beginning with the former intercity bus terminal area and including the removal of dozens of illegal structures used as residences or rental units. Illegal buildings over drainage channels were also cleared, and the water channels themselves have been normalized by the Pulo Gadung Subdistrict Water Resources Unit. These steps were aimed at improving both functionality and aesthetics.

Improvements have also targeted unauthorized street vendors near the police post at the terminal exit, making the area more comfortable and visually appealing. Additionally, 150 trees have been planted across the terminal, including avocado, matoa, rambutan, durian, and mango, with support from the Parks and Urban Forestry Department. Landscaping efforts contribute to a greener and more inviting terminal environment.

Suratman emphasized that infrastructure and facilities will continue to be enhanced to maintain comfort and security for commuters. Proposals include adding more CCTV cameras to prevent potential public safety disturbances. These initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach to improving terminal operations and user satisfaction. Authorities remain committed to ensuring a safe, orderly, and enjoyable transit experience at Pulo Gadung Terminal.
