Transportation Agency Deploys 13 Disability-Friendly School Buses

The Jakarta Provincial Government expanded its inclusive transportation services with the introduction of 13 new Disability-Friendly School Buses. These vehicles were launched by Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, as part of the city’s continuing effort to strengthen mobility support for students with disabilities. The buses were designed to provide safer and more comfortable access to education. Their addition raises the total fleet of specialized school buses to 18 units.

The initiative builds on earlier steps taken by the administration to support equal educational opportunities for all students. The microbus models are intended to meet daily mobility needs, especially for travel between home and school. This expansion reflects the government’s commitment to building a more inclusive city. The service now reaches six Special Schools (SLB), broadening support for students who require dedicated transportation.

The administration emphasized that expanding service coverage is essential to ensure equitable access to education. Officials noted that the new routes will help more students who rely on specialized transport. Each Disability-Friendly Bus includes hydraulic lifts for wheelchairs, guiding blocks, safety sensors, and audio assistance for visually impaired passengers. These features demonstrate a deliberate approach to designing vehicles that accommodate varied needs.

The transportation agency underscored that every detail in the buses was crafted to enhance safety, comfort, and usability. The additional units are expected to boost productivity and learning enthusiasm among students with disabilities. This investment signals a long-term effort to improve inclusive transport infrastructure throughout Jakarta. The initiative also represents a broader move toward ensuring that no student is left behind in accessing education.
