South Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises Agency, known as PPKUKM, has confirmed that 22 general vendors have passed the curation stage to occupy stalls at the Lenteng Agung Fauna and Culinary Center. The selection process applies exclusively to new general traders and does not include former Barito street vendors. Officials say the curation is intended to ensure product quality before kiosks are formally handed over. The move reflects a broader effort to raise standards in publicly managed trading centers.
Head of South Jakarta PPKUKM, Djaharuddin, explained that the curation focused on vendors slated for Blocks A and E of the facility. Out of 51 applicants, 22 have completed the final assessment stage and are now eligible to receive kiosk keys. Evaluation criteria included taste, hygiene, presentation, and product packaging. Vendors who passed will undergo a one-month trial period before permanent placement is confirmed.
The agency is targeting a total of 30 curated general vendors, excluding former Barito traders, meaning eight candidates are still under review. In parallel, 21 former Barito vendors have registered to operate at the Lenteng Agung site. These traders, primarily from the culinary sector, are set to occupy stalls in Blocks A and E. The dual-track approach aims to accommodate relocation needs while maintaining consistent quality control.
Djaharuddin said structured and continuous curation is expected to improve visitor experience and commercial appeal. Vendors have been allowed to begin selling, with cleanliness emphasized as a shared responsibility between sellers and customers. The Lenteng Agung complex is divided into several zones, including culinary kiosks, bird and pet supply stalls, and a planned amphitheater area. Authorities hope the zoning and curation system will turn the center into an orderly and attractive destination for residents.
