From Friday, 23 January 2026, as many as 150 joint personnel carried out a community clean-up operation in RW 05, Rawa Terate, Cakung, East Jakarta. The activity was coordinated by Head of Cakung District, Rohmad, following flooding that had partially receded in the area. The clean-up was limited to locations where water levels had subsided, while areas still inundated, such as RT 10, could not yet be addressed. The operation reflected a coordinated government response to restore post-flood conditions.
Rohmad explained that the clean-up focused on removing garbage and mud left behind by the floodwaters. Additional measures included spraying affected areas, pumping remaining water, and pruning several large trees. A total of 150 cross-sector personnel were deployed to ensure the work progressed efficiently. The effort prioritized public safety and environmental sanitation in residential zones.
The operation involved multiple local government units, including district and sub-district officials, Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling officers, and task forces from Water Resources, Highways, Environmental Affairs, Transportation, Parks and Urban Forests, and Fire and Rescue Services. Community members also actively participated alongside government personnel. To support the operation, five trucks were prepared for waste transportation. Fire engines and mobile water pumps were deployed to assist with mud spraying and water removal.
RW 05 Treasurer, Nurhasan, expressed appreciation for the swift response shown by the joint personnel. He emphasized that the clean-up effort was crucial in accelerating the recovery of the neighborhood. The activity was expected to continue once all remaining flooded areas fully receded. The initiative aimed to restore safe and comfortable living conditions for local residents.
