Jakarta Security Post in Pasar Rebo Helps Prevent Street Fights

The East Jakarta City Administration has moved to strengthen public order by constructing a Posko Terpadu Jaga Jakarta at the Pasar Rebo intersection, Susukan Sub-district, Ciracas. The initiative is aimed at anticipating and preventing recurring brawls involving youths and students in the area. According to Head of Susukan Sub-district, Puji Akbar Sahroni, the post is a preventive security measure rather than a reactive response. The location was chosen due to its history as a hotspot for clashes.

Puji Akbar Sahroni explained that the construction, which began last week, is being carried out jointly by the three pillars of local governance. Around 20 combined personnel from the Public Infrastructure Handling Unit, the Water Resources Agency, and the Highways Agency are involved in the work. The post, measuring 3 by 12 meters, is targeted for completion within one week. Once finished, it will be staffed daily by officers from the three pillars.

The integrated post will be equipped with basic facilities, including a restroom and a data panel displaying territorial maps and operational structures. It will also outline the duties and functions of the police, the organizational structure of the post, and the roster of on-duty personnel. The post is scheduled to begin operations on Friday. Authorities believe its constant presence will deter potential disturbances.

Community police officer of Susukan Sub-district, Aiptu Yatman, noted that brawl incidents have already begun to decline alongside increased supervision and preparation for the post’s operation. Neighborhood watch activities, known locally as siskamling, are also being intensified to maintain a conducive environment. He expressed hope that the integrated post would foster a greater sense of safety and comfort for residents. Yatman also urged students and youths to stay away from violence and help safeguard peace and unity in the Pasar Rebo area.
