Four Fallen and Damaged Trees in East Jakarta Successfully Cleared

The swift response to multiple fallen and damaged trees in East Jakarta highlights the importance of rapid urban maintenance in ensuring public safety. Four trees were reported to have fallen or partially broken due to strong winds on Friday night, disrupting several public spaces. The incidents were attributed to weakened root conditions that could no longer withstand the force of the wind. Such occurrences underscore the vulnerability of aging urban greenery during extreme weather conditions.

Head of Green Line and Cemetery Section of East Jakarta Parks and Forestry Sub-agency, Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita, confirmed that evacuation efforts were carried out immediately. Made stated that prompt action ensured that public activities could resume without disruption the following day. The fallen trees were located across several areas, affecting sidewalks, roads, and nearby infrastructure. This rapid intervention reflects the agency’s preparedness in handling emergency situations involving urban vegetation.

Among the affected trees was a Bintaro tree in Rambutan that blocked a sidewalk and part of the road shoulder after falling. A Kiara Payung tree in the Gongseng Stadium area suffered partial breakage, with part of its trunk hitting a stadium canopy, though no casualties were reported. Another case involved a partially broken Asam Kranji tree in Rawamangun that obstructed pedestrian access. Additionally, a Tanjung tree in Pondok Kelapa damaged overhead electrical cables belonging to the state electricity company.

Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita noted that a total of 24 personnel from the Green Task Force were deployed to handle the evacuation. The coordinated effort ensured that all affected sites were cleared efficiently within a short timeframe. This incident illustrates the critical role of routine monitoring and rapid response in maintaining urban safety and functionality. It also reinforces the need for continued assessment of tree health to prevent similar incidents in the future.
