Large-Scale Event Organizers Reminded to Prioritize Critical Guidelines

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has apologized to the public for traffic congestion and disruptions that occurred along HR Rasuna Said Road in South Jakarta during a music event attended by an estimated 10,000 people on Sunday night (May 31). The agency said it moved quickly to address the situation after receiving complaints from residents and road users affected by the heavy traffic.

Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaludin, stated that while the provincial government supports public events and economic activities in the capital, organizers must coordinate with relevant authorities when an event is expected to generate significant traffic volumes. Following public reports, Dishub officers, together with Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) personnel, were deployed to manage traffic flow and organize vehicles around the venue to reduce congestion.

Budi explained that the event had obtained a crowd permit from the police, but the organizers did not coordinate with Dishub regarding traffic management and parking arrangements despite the large number of expected attendees. According to him, such coordination is essential because it allows the agency to prepare parking facilities, deploy personnel, implement traffic management measures, and encourage visitors to use public transportation instead of private vehicles.

Looking ahead, Dishub emphasized its commitment to responding quickly to traffic-related issues and ensuring the presence of officers whenever problems arise on Jakarta’s roads. The agency also urged all event organizers to coordinate with Dishub from the early planning stages so that preventive measures can be prepared effectively, helping to minimize disruptions and maintain smooth mobility for the public.
