The East Jakarta branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has distributed humanitarian assistance to residents affected by a fire on Rasamala Raya Street in South Utan Kayu, Matraman. The aid was provided as part of efforts to help survivors recover from the fire that occurred on May 29. The assistance aims to ease the burden on affected families as they rebuild their lives after the disaster. Local authorities welcomed the support as an important contribution to the recovery process.
East Jakarta PMI Chairperson, Bambang Pangestu Aldriyan, said the aid was delivered on June 2 through the South Utan Kayu Urban Village administration. The assistance package included three food packages, three family kits, three folding mats, and three hygiene kits. According to Bambang, the support is intended to help meet the basic needs of fire survivors while also providing moral encouragement during a difficult period. He emphasized PMI’s commitment to responding quickly whenever communities require humanitarian assistance.
Bambang stated that PMI remains ready to assist people affected by emergencies and disasters across the region. He noted that humanitarian support is not only about supplying necessities but also about showing solidarity with those facing hardship. The organization continues to work closely with local authorities to ensure aid reaches those who need it most. Such cooperation helps speed up recovery efforts and strengthen community resilience after disasters.
Meanwhile, Matraman Sub-district Head Muhammad Husnul Fauji expressed appreciation for PMI’s swift response to the request for assistance. He said the aid would be valuable for residents who are still working to recover and meet their daily needs following the fire. Fauji thanked PMI for its support and highlighted the positive impact of the assistance on affected families. He added that the aid helps reduce the burden on residents as they continue their recovery process.
